Over the previous weekend Hocquet’s mixed hockey team came over from Madrid to play the Lisbon Casuals mixed team.  

Saturdays match was an intense affair, with good quality hockey and two very competitive teams. There where plenty of goals going round but the Casuals managed to score the most, securing a 6-4 win.

We then headed to the all important 3rd half at the bar, where Hocquet won hands down as they served everyone jamón, cheese and wine. In the evening we all met up in Algés for dinner.

On Sunday we had our second match where the Casuals were far stronger in the first half managing to reach the half time break with a 5-0 lead. However, tired legs lead to a slower second half for the Casuals and Hocquet scored back a few goals. But the Casuals pulled through and won the match 8-3.

Thank you Hocquet for a very fun weekend. See you next year in Madrid!

The day started with a match between our youngsters, which was played in very good spirits. We then held a brief prize giving ceremony where the U18 players were given their 3rd place medals and Vicente Mourão received his Best Player award from the previous weekends finals.

Then came the individual club prizes we award at the end of each season.

Next we had the much anticipated Cup matches.

First we had the Kuiper Cup where both teams flew in reinforcements from abroad. The Dutch were the stronger team in the first half, where Joe Kodde scored a cracker on his backhand that flew past the GK’s head. In the second half the British were stronger and had multiple Penalty Corners that they didn’t manage to put in the Dutch goal. Holland 1-0 Great Britain.

Then we had the Camões Cup where Fernando’s Lusitanos were stronger than João Miguel’s Caravelas and by half time it was 2-0 to the Lusitanos. But the second half saw a complete turnover of the run of play and the Caravelas managed to end the match with a 2-2 draw. We needed a winner so on to penalties we went. João Ralha was the unlucky player to miss his penalty which gave the Cup to the Caravelas. Caravelas 2-2 Lusitanos (2-1).

The day ended with the Pringsheim Cup with the Dutch facing the Caravelas. This was a tight match where the Dutch scored first with an attack down the right wing by Alexa Kodde who carried the ball on the base line and injects it towards the front of the goal where Philipp Ka calmly taps the ball in. The next goal also went to the Dutch, from a flick by Joe Kodde at a Penalty Corner. The final minutes were dominated by the Caravelas who were mounting on the pressure, but the Dutch held their ground and blocked all shots. With 3 minutes remaining, while the Caravelas where taking a shot at goal, Joe Kodde took a blow to the head which stopped play. Este ano as três taças mais importantes na história do hóquei serão todas disputadas no mesmo dia!

Sábado, dia 03 de Junho, vamos ter um dia cheio de hóquei, a começar com o jogo dos miúdos às 13H00. De seguida, pelas 13H30, haverá a entrega dos prémios individuais de ‘Best Beginner’, ‘Most Improved Junior Player’ e ‘Most Improved Female Player’.

Depois vem o torneio mais antecipado do ano. A Kuiper Cup começa às 14H00 e de seguida vem a Camões Cup, às 14H50. O jogo que decide os 3º/4º lugares será às 15H40. Por fim, às 16H30, teremos a grande final…a Pringsheim Cup. Estes jogos terão 2 partes de 20 minutos.

Convidamos todos para estarem presentes às 13H30, e assistir à entrega dos prémios individuais.

Os Men terminam a época com um fim de semana no Porto.

No sábado jogamos contra o GD Viso, onde a primeira parte foi muito equilibrada mas a segunda parte já foi a favor da equipa adversária.

O jogo começa bastante equilibrado, ambas as equipas criam as suas oportunidades. Depois de vários ataques sem sucesso por parte do Lisbon, Diogo Marques abre o marcador para a equipa visitante. O atleta lousadense consegue passar por vários jogadores do Lisbon e finaliza com um remate à entrada da área que deixa o guarda-redes Joao Miguel sem hipóteses.
Os Casuals procuram o empate, e conseguem ganhar dois cantos que infelizmente não dão o resultado desejado.
É na segunda parte que Pedro Berga consegue igualar o marcador, ao desviar a bola para a baliza.
Poucos minutos depois João Ralha aumenta para 2 – 1, ao finalizar um belo ataque oriundo do lado direito.
Nesta fase do jogo, a equipa visitante mal consegue passar o meio campo, uma vez que os Casuals continuam a aumentar a pressão. Fruto dessa mesma pressão surge o 3-1, um feito de Philipp Wenzel, que literalmente coloca a bola ao lado do guarda redes depois deste já ter sido eliminado, por uma sequência de passes entre Nicolas, Philipp e João.
Seguem vários ataques bonitos por parte da equipa da casa, que deixa o público animado. Por fim, Nicolas Wenzel consegue converter um canto curto, ao colocar a bola no canto inferior esquerdo.
Resultado final: 4 – 1
