Nov. 16 – Super Georgina help ladies win

Ladies: 7-1. Super Georgina was the MVP with 3 goals. In what was supposed to be an easy game for the Ladies, they started building the score early in the game: the ‘Georgina show’ was even better, adding speed to the game. However the passes were not getting into the circle where our captain Angela Lima was looking them, and this lack of accuracy turned the game into a very hard situation to solve… But Georgina scored again from a brilliant move with only 4 passes from the defensive line to the back of the opposition goal: only then did LCHC get going, everything started to flow and 2 minutes later the youngest player Marina scored again this season, after earlier  goals in the league!! In the midfield Janna Wende and Inês Campos showed a mature attitude holding that sector every time Casa Pia A.C. tried to do something.

In the second half, Georgina completed her hat-trick of the game, Inês Campos also scored, and Rita de Sousa scored 2 more goals for LCHC ladies. Casa Pia A.C. got their goal 3 minutes from the end of the game.

Oct. 22 – Ladies win again

Another day and a completely different game: yesterday the Ladies played against Cathedral School Llandaff, a much younger but very well organized team that gave us a lot of problems on the counter attack.

LCHC controlled most of the game, despite the decreased level of their game, mostly due to the great effort expended the previous day against Wellington College. Nevertheless the Ladies pushed hard and got their 1st goal from a short corner with a beautiful drag flick by Joana Penetra into the bottom right corner. Cathedral School reacted straight away by attacking our area, and soon scored their well deserved goal.

In the second half LCHC were a more determined team and pushed really hard with the midfielders Georgina Scheder-Bieschin, Joana Penetra and Inês Campos getting their game together. In defence Marie-Sophie was more than a gigantic wall with no ball getting through her, and the LCHC attacks were more dangerous from her side. We have to say Girl of the Match was Rita de Sousa who broke the deadlock with a hat-trick to make the final score 4-1. A final reference to our youngest Marina, who is providing some serious competition for former LCHC forwards with her three goal assists!!

Thanks to Move Sports and Cathedral School, LLandaff for making this game possible. A big thank you also to the 3 Belenenses players who kindly accepted to play for us (Isabel, Madalena and Filipa), and an even bigger special thanks to Jessica ‘Cacauette’ from Casa Pia.

Oct. 19 – U15 Win

After only limited training time this season so far and with one less player than CF Benfica and no substitutes, the U-15 put on a fine show to win its first game 8-1 with almost every player putting a goal on the score sheet.

LCHC went into the interval leading 4-0, with 2 goals apiece from Diogo Lima and Vicente Mourão, of which 3 were from open play and one from a short corner. After the interval, LCHC played without a goalie or kicking back and added another 4 goals to 1, again 3 from open play and one short corner.

Oct. 18 – LC Veterans v LC U18s

Ficando Vets 4-2 Sub18 no marcador.

Boa arbitragem de Ray Borrow e Hugo Jesus.

Young against old.  It was a great pleasure to be allowed back on the pitch at Jamor, and even better to have a good game against the under 18s

The first half was fairly even, but the Vets proved to be clever with their counter attacks. In Herman we found a very able centre forward. Not the quickest, but why run if you can do it with skill? After some good combinations in the mid field, between Andrew, Aderito and James, Jerry managed to score with a solid hit in the bottom corner. Two goals followed, both scored by James after excellent work by Herman. Half time 3- 0 to the Vets.

After some wise words by captain Hans, we managed to let in 2 quick goals. John (son of James) scored them both and one of them was of a quality that the father can only dream about. 10 minutes to go and Jerry scored a very well placed killer goal in the near corner. With an age difference of at least 30 years the young ones started to run past most of us, but fearless Craig kept the ball out of his goal. End result 4 – 2 to the Vets.

Thanks to Hugo and Ray for umpiring a clean game. No cards, no arguments. As we said to each other at 6 o´clock, “nice to be back on a Saturday afternoon”.
