Mar. 21 – U13s beat Casa Pia

The U-13s won their first game of the outdoor season against CPAC on Saturday, taking good advantage of their numerical superiority but also showing great improvement in their passing play, which had been already in evidence in the previous game in Jamor.

The game was goal-less for the first 18 minutes but then Sebastian opened the scoring with a nice tip-in. CPAC immediately replied with two quick goals to leave Casuals trailing at the interval.

But in the second half the Huijsmans sisters put their experience and pace to good use, Fleur scoring one and then both combining in the midfield to give Pedro a shot at goal. Finally, Sebastian put a well struck ball into the area from the right wing and Antonio finished it off with a deflection from the far post. CPAC replied with one but the clock ran down to leave Casuals 4-3 winners.

Despite losing 2-8 in today’s difficult game against the current league leaders, Casuals’ Men showed an improvement in their ability to cope with a strong attacking team. After setting up a 2-0 lead after a quarter of an hour, Carris added a 3rd from close range. Minutes later, Nicolas Wenzel forced his way past several defenders to pull a goal back with a great strike just inside the left post. However, Casuals then made crucial errors to allow their opponents to extend their lead to 6-1 in the last 5 minutes of the first half.

The second half saw a steely performance from the Casuals defence, with the back four of Vitor Rosa, Andrew Baird, Joe and Michael Kodde living dangerously, but keeping Carris at bay. The only 2 goals they conceded were penalty corners, while at the other end Casuals also scored from a penalty corner, when Nicolas’ pass found João Ralha at the far post for a tip-in.

Last Sunday, the LCHC ladies face Belenenses for the 1st match between the two teams for the Portuguese Cup.

After the win of 5-0 to the championship in October against Belenenses, early in the game it was obvious who was going to dominate the game, with a fantastic offensive waves LCHC easily install them self on Belenenses half pitch. Several chance to score but with all Belenenses team inside the defensive circle it was difficult to find our way to he goal.

Incredibly in one of the few counter-attack of Belenenses they manage to score catching LCHC by surprise.

On the second half the dominance was even more noticed. The ladies pushed really hard keeping belenenses most of the second half inside their defensive circle. But not even with more than 20 shots on goal we manage to score and make this the second defeat in outdoor this season, but not all is lost since we have the second match to decide who goes to the finals.
